Plans to create a Committee for Bendigo will take a step ahead this week with the visit of Committee for Geelong Plans to create a Committee for Bendigo will take a step ahead next month (not this week, as previously reported) with the visit of Committee for Geelong representatives.

Founding member of the Geelong community leadership planning group Frank Costa and Committee executive director Peter Dorling are scheduled to meet with the Bendigo Business Council to discuss plans for the creation of a similar Committee in Bendigo.

Talks have also been held with the Committee for Ballarat in recent months.

The Bendigo Weekly called for the creation of a Committee for Bendigo in August last year.

Sandhurst Trustees manager Neil Athorn and councillor and businesswoman Lisa Ruffell both backed the push.

Last week a group of Bendigo business and community people announced the establishment of a Thinking Community network.

A $30,000 state government grant, matched by $30,000 from the Community Foundation, is being administered by a Reference Group.representatives.
