Arj Barker has toured our great wide country enough to be declared an honorary Aussie.

After a stellar run of sold out shows at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and fresh from his first ever regional New Zealand tour, he’s back again and currently working his way around the country on his regional “Eleven” tour, rolling through Bendigo this Sunday night.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Bendigo,” Arj says.

“I’ve been there a couple of times and really enjoyed it, great audiences, always really nice.”

Never afraid of putting in the hard yards, Arj will be touring the country for three months straight.

“I’m working pretty solid right up until December,” he says.

“I stay with a lot of friends, I’ve got some pretty good friends out here now. I’m pretty familiar with the people at hotels as well.”

After the tour, Arj plans to take a well-earned break.

“I’ll take some time off and probably go to a few barbeques in December,” he says.

“Maybe I’ll go for a run, read a book, watch movies, go shooting, hang gliding, make wall hangings, do some watercolour paintings, mountain climbing, that’s pretty much a weekend right there.”

Arj’s popularity continues to rise, a major contributing factor being his role of “Dave” in the hit TV series Flight of the Conchords

“Those guys (Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement) were friends of mine that I made from touring and they thought I’d make a great addition to the show, so they wrote a part for me,” he says.
