Victorians with an interest in shaping their state’s responsible gambling policy have been invited by Gaming Minister Michael O’Brien to apply for a position on the Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council (RGMAC).

RGMAC provides advice to the Minister for Gaming on responsible gambling policy and research. It is being reconstituted as part of the Victorian Coalition Government’s delivery of its commitment to increase community input into responsible gambling policy.

“The Coalition Government has announced a range of policy commitments to promote responsible gambling in Victoria over the next few years, and we’re looking for interested Victorians to help develop these commitments by providing advice through RGMAC,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Council is being reconstituted by the Government to broaden community input and we are particularly interested in hearing from articulate community members with an interest in responsible gambling policy, whether from metropolitan, regional or rural Victoria.

“The Coalition Government is committed to reducing the prevalence and severity of problem gambling across Victoria and we expect RGMAC to be a valuable source of advice in this area.”

Victorians interested in nominating for RGMAC should submit a written application outlining what they could bring to RGMAC and enclosing a curriculum vitae.

Further information about the application process should be directed to Aphrodite Vlahos, Secretariat, Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council, phone 8684 8229 or email rgmac@justice.vic.gov.au.

Applicationsclose on Wednesday 21 December 2011 and should be sent to:
