IT’S school holiday time and the Discovery Science and Technology Centre is again the place to go.

These holidays there is a melody of science entertainment with a new science show, lab workshops and a new planetarium show.

The Science of Sound Science Show will look at how sound works and will take place from noon to 2pm every day.

“In our Noisy Lab workshops you can explore the science of sound and learn how to make yourself heard in a big way,” centre manager Lisa Gormley said.

The Noisy Lab Workshops will take place at 10.30am on both Wednesdays of the holidays, and cost $3.

In November this year, a total eclipse will occur in the far north of Australia, and the planetarium is preparing for it now.

“During our new planetarium show, Total Eclipse of the Sun, you can flop into a beanbag and find out why, when and how total eclipses happen,” Planetarium co-ordinator Craig Kendal  said.

Total Eclipse shows will take place at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm daily and are included with general admission.
