THE Hargreaves Mall playground is back .

The City of Greater Bendigo council voted on Wednesday night to reinstate money for the playground after its 2012-13 budget rejected it.

Council has reallocated the $200,000 for the mall in the budget, with $150,000 to go towards a new play space and $50,000 towards amenity improvements.

The $200,000 was initially split between improving the large screens and developing an amenities program.

It came after a 1578-signature petition from the Bendigo Traders' Association calling for the playground to be put back on the agenda.

It also came after council spoke to mall traders on what their preferred priorities for the mall were.

They named shelter, grass, colour and vibrancy as their first priority, and the playground as their second.

More activities and use of the screens came in third and fourth.

Excellent! Let's hope it gets voted through. Now we need to start a petition to have the market in the mall, and then Bendigo down town will be a much brighter and vibrant place to visit and shop!
