THE Golden Dragon Museum has unveiled images of its $15 million expansion.

The three-storey building, built over the carpark between the current museum and Park Road.

The development will feature a restaurant and smaller exhibition space on the ground floor and a larger exhibition space and research offices on level one.

The centrepiece of the first two levels will be a void between them and an internal garden to house some of the exhibits

The top floor will feature tea rooms and a small exhibition area.

The top level will be above the Rosalind Park tearooms, allowing an uninterrupted view of the park and CBD.

The plans also draw a line under the much-mooted plans by the Bendigo Chinese Association dating back a decade for a nine-storey pagoda on the site adjacent to the existing museum.

The plans for the massive expansion were unveiled to coincide with the Bendigo Dragon Museum's 20th birthday celebrations.
