THE Hargreaves Mall will be rocking its bobby sox off later this month when the Jailhouse Rockers take over for the day.

As part of a three-day Rock ’n’ Roll festival there will be live music, dancing and classic cars to name just a few events, with stores joining in dressed in style.

The Central Victorian Chinese Lion team will be in attendance too, so there will be plenty to see and do.

The free event at the mall on Saturday, October 27, will be surrounded by other themed activities.

The Festival proper kicks off on Friday, October 26 at the Strathfieldsaye sports club with a supper dance from 8pm to midnight.

On Sunday, October 28 from 10am to 3.30pm there is a day of activities featuring Jump ‘n’ Jive to wind- down after the festival.

Tickets for the whole shebang cost $50.

The Bendigo Jailhouse Rockers Club was formed in 1996 to bring together like-minded fans of dance and music.

“I love the style of dance,” club vice-president Bill Freeman said.

“It’s a great social atmosphere.”

Club treasurer Leanne Dunlop is a big fan too.

“I love being able to dance with my partner,” she said.

Apart from the festival, the club has a busy calendar of events throughout the year.

“Come and try rock and roll dancing at St Andrew’s Hall in Myers Street on Monday next,” Leanne said.

“That way you’ll be partly ready for the festival at the end of the month.”
