LEGACY Week starts on Sunday, so now is the time to support the valuable work the organisation does.

Legacy supports widows and dependents of deceased ex-service veterans, and now is you chance to help them by buying a Legacy badge.

The badges are available in a variety of values, but no matter how small your donation, every little helps with their work.

“A lot of people don’t know what we do,” Bendigo Legacy secretary Neil Gill said.

“Where ANZAC Day is all about the veterans, we look after the beneficiaries of deceased and incapacitated ex-service men. Those who can’t help themselves.”

There are 50 legacy clubs in existence, with the Bendigo club being formed in 1926.

Mr Gill has good reason to support Legacy.

“I lost my dad in 1943 in New Guinea, and Legacy helped put me through school,” he said.

“I’m pleased to be giving something back.”

The Legacy badges will be for sale at various locations next Friday and Saturday, and are available from this Sunday until next Sunday at the Bendigo Marketplace.
