The local roller derby revolution continues to roll on as Bendigo’s Dragon City Derby Dolls clash with the Byron Bay Rollers this Saturday night in a derby double header in Reservoir, Melbourne.

The Collide-A-Scope Roller Derby will also feature the debut bout between Northside Rollers and the La Trobe City Roller Derby.

Our girls will be full of confidence after drawing around 1000 people (including City of Greater Bendigo mayor Rod Fyffe) to their last bout at the showgrounds a few months ago.

Bendigo's Emma McSparron said her “little derby family” had grown to 15 dedicated skaters, who were showing a great aptitude and commitment to the sport.

“We had a ‘fresh meat’ intake just after the bout (at the showgrounds) where we had people who had never skated in their life come along and check out derby,” she says.

“Derby is really starting to take shape as a sport to be recognized by the regional community.”

$1 from each ticket to the Collide-A-Scope Roller Derby will be donated to charity.

Nice to see archived old photos being reused *cough*. I'm sure the weekly should have access to photos of the ladies on their skates.
