Bendigo has endured its coldest night of the year. 

The mercury dipped to -2.7 degrees at around 3am on Wednesday morning, the coldest minimum temperature recorded so far this year. 

This month in Bendigo has been significantly colder than average. 

June's average minimum temperature so far is 1.9 degrees, 1.6 degrees lower than the June average low recorded at the Bendigo Airport since 1992.

Despite the chilly overnight temperature, Bendigo is still a long way off its all-time coldest temperature of -5.5 degrees on September 6, 1998. 

The Bureau has forecast rain and a far more comfortable minimum of 4 degrees for tonight.
