BENDIGO businesses have again chipped in to help one of the city’s most popular fundraisers – the Relay for Life.
Relay patron and well-known businessman Keith Sutherland said local businesses had donated outstanding prizes in the relay’s raffle.
“Travelaction Bendigo and its manager, Ryan Pedrotti, have donated the raffle’s first prize, two economy return flights flying Qatar Airways to London, valued at more than $3300,” he said.
“Danny Clapp The Good Guys has donated second prize, which is a 42-inch plasma television with high-definition tuner valued at $1299.
“Third prize is a 12-lap driving experience donated by www.rallyschool.com.au valued at $375.”
Tickets for the raffle are $2 and available at many CBD businesses.
Relay for Life members also have tickets for sale.
“A big thank also goes to the Bendigo Lions Club,” Mr Sutherland said.
“Its extra funding means 100 per cent of each ticket sale will go towards cancer research and support services.”
This year’s event, on April 16 and 17 at La Trobe’s athletics track, will be the Cancer Council’s 11th relay in the city, with more than $2million raised locally.
“This is an outstanding achievement for Bendigo and surrounding communities,” Mr Sutherland said.
“There is still time to enter teams for this year’s event, with all raffle ticket sales going to the contribution of each team’s fundraising.
“To date, some teams have had very innovative fundraisers and it is a good way for friends and businesses to have fun while raising much-needed funds for cancer research.”
