in BENDIGO NEWS -

BENDIGO’S Spotlight store held a special family event on Sunday to thank the community for its help in the aftermath of the Black Saturday fires.

Spotlight’s Ironbark store, stock and surrounds were damaged in the February 7 fire and was closed for a number of months afterwards.

The family day included free entertainment, face painting and a roving entertainer.

The Bendigo Lions Club ran a barbecue and locals dug deep for local CFA brigades.

Spotlight spokesman Stephen Carey said the event was a way of the company saying thanks.

“The Bendigo community was an unbelievable support to our team while we got back up on our feet,” he said.

“Because of this we wanted to recognise the contribution.

“Helen and the team at Spotlight Bendigo want to say a big ‘thank you’ to the community and customers for their fantastic support.

”These fires not only affected our team and our store but also Bendigo and surrounding communities.”
